Athlone Christmas Market 2025
The Athlone Christmas Market returns to Athlone Civic Square in December 2025. This year brings an exciting mix of returning favourites and new creative traders, which ensures a lively and varied shopping experience for all visitors. The market will run from 11 to 14 December and again from 18 to 21 December. Opening hours are 10am to 6pm from Thursday to Saturday and 12pm to 6pm on Sundays.
A diverse range of traders
This year’s selection of traders reflects a broad blend of local talent, artisan makers and small independent businesses. Many visitors will recognise several returning names, while others will discover new stalls that add fresh interest to the market. Each trader brings a unique style, so the atmosphere promises to be rich in variety. Although additional announcements are on the way, confirmed traders already include Laura’s Little Luxuries, TrueColors, A Room in Bloom, The Button Studio, Carrickfern Honey, The Paper Lane, Bastion Kitchen, Gaming Goods Ireland, Luain Clothing, Shop Zelvani, Wazbee and Sunbee, Slate Creations, Wow Moment Creation, Made With Love Body Care and Em Woodturning. As more traders are revealed, visitors will gain an even clearer picture of the broad craft and food offering planned for December.
Stay connected through social media
Further introductions to individual traders will appear on social media in the coming weeks. These posts often give helpful insight into the products on offer, so visitors can explore the styles, themes and craftwork ahead of time. Following the traders online also supports local makers and encourages stronger community engagement.
Santa visits the market
Santa Claus will make two appearances during the market, which provides a memorable moment for families. He will visit on Saturday 13 December and Saturday 20 December from 2pm to 3.30pm. These visits are free to attend and offer children an easy, relaxed way to meet Santa. Since the atmosphere is warm and friendly, the experience suits younger visitors who enjoy a gentle introduction to the Christmas season. Families, relatives and carers can take part together, which often creates lasting memories.
School choir performance
The market will also feature a special performance from the Tubberclare National School choir on Friday 19 December from 11am. Their visit brings a bright and uplifting start to the day. Children’s voices often add a unique sense of warmth to festive events, so this performance will create a joyful moment for visitors of all ages.
Live music from the River Street Big Band
In addition, the River Street Big Band will perform on Saturday 20 December from 12.30pm to 2pm. Their fifteen-piece line-up brings a powerful live sound to Athlone Civic Square. The ensemble performs a wide range of classics, from swing standards to lively modern hits. Because they play entirely live, the performance carries an impressive energy that complements the festive setting.
