Get ready for a weekend full of fun, heritage and hands-on learning at the 12th Annual That Beats Banagher Festival, happening on 26th and 27th July 2025 in Banagher, County Offaly.
This exciting festival celebrates traditional Irish crafts, culture and community. Head to The Barrack Yard to see live demonstrations in blacksmithing, iron ore smelting, basketweaving and more. You’ll also find displays of traditional crafts, offering a unique look at how skills were passed down through generations.
For an even deeper experience, take part in a Blacksmithing Workshop on 25th July. In this limited-space event, you can forge your own item under expert guidance. Early booking is advised!
If you love learning, don’t miss the Martello Tower Workshop on Saturday 26th from 2pm to 6pm, which follows a field trip to Clonganny Bog. On Sunday 27th, join the Heritage Walk from 12:45pm to 2pm, starting at St. Paul’s Church and ending at The Barrack Yard. Along the way, you’ll explore Banagher’s iron history, literary landmarks and Napoleonic secrets.
Looking for fun for all ages? The Long Puck Across the Shannon happens on Saturday 26th at Banagher Park from 2pm to 4pm. See how far the sliotar can fly in this thrilling hurling challenge. Throughout the weekend, enjoy Fire, Flavour and Feasting with delicious food from local vendors.
