A Taste of Samhain: Food, Folklore and Whiskey in Ballymahon
Celebrate the season of Samhain with an unforgettable evening of food, drink, storytelling and music at the Spirit of Samhain Tasting Dinner, taking place at Skelly’s Bar and Guesthouse, Ballymahon, on 4th November.
Hosted in partnership with Lough Ree Distillery, this exclusive dining experience showcases the very best of local produce through a specially curated five-course tasting menu. Featuring seasonal ingredients and locally sourced food, including renowned Inis Clothrinn Droimeann Beef, each course will be expertly paired with selected Irish whiskeys from Lough Ree Distillery and limited-edition craft beers brewed locally for the occasion.
Inspired by the traditions and folklore of Samhain, the evening will also explore the story of Oweynagat, often referred to as the original Home of Halloween. Guests will have the rare opportunity to sample a unique beer created using yeast harvested from Oweynagat itself, offering a distinctive taste experience connected to one of Ireland’s most fascinating heritage sites.
Adding to the atmosphere, local musicians will provide live entertainment throughout the evening. Weather permitting, the event will take place in a heated outdoor courtyard illuminated by candlelight and open flames, creating a warm and memorable setting that reflects the spirit and mystery of the season.
