Experience the magic of An Tairseach: Samhain ar Uisneach on 7th and 8th November 2026 from 3pm, as the legendary Hill of Uisneach welcomes visitors for a special two-day celebration of Irish mythology, music and ancient Samhain traditions.
Meaning “The Threshold”, An Tairseach captures the spirit of community, connection and shared remembrance at the heart of this ancient festival. Set at one of Ireland’s most significant mythological sites, this atmospheric event invites visitors to celebrate the turning of the year and discover the rich cultural heritage associated with the centre of Ireland.
Over two days, enjoy a varied programme of live music, exhibitions, storytelling, performers, games and ancient traditions. With activities celebrating Ireland’s folklore and heritage, there are opportunities to connect with the stories, customs and seasonal rituals that have shaped Irish culture across generations.
The highlight of the celebrations is a spectacular torchlit procession followed by the lighting of the sacred Samhain Fire. As darkness falls over the Hill of Uisneach, this powerful gathering brings people together to mark the changing seasons and honour the traditions associated with Samhain, the ancient Celtic festival marking the transition into winter.
Often associated with Irish mythology, kingship and the meeting of the provinces, the Hill of Uisneach holds a special place in Ireland’s cultural imagination. Its connection to ancient gatherings and sacred fire makes it a fitting setting for an event celebrating the origins and enduring spirit of Samhain.
Whether you are passionate about Irish history, fascinated by mythology or looking for a memorable cultural experience, An Tairseach offers a unique opportunity to experience the atmosphere of this remarkable place as part of Samhain in the Heartlands and Ireland’s Home of Halloween.
Demand is expected to be high, and the event is expected to sell out, so plan ahead to avoid disappointment.
