Athlone Town AFC Community 5K Fun Run & Charity Fundraiser
Athlone Town AFC is delighted to host our inaugural Community 5K Fun Run/Walk on Sunday, 5 July 2026 at 2:00pm at the Athlone Town Stadium. This special event is designed to bring together players, coaches, volunteers, supporters, families, sponsors, and neighbours for an afternoon that celebrates connection, inclusion, and community spirit.
While completing the 5K is a great achievement, the heart of this event lies in supporting the organisations that make a real difference in people’s lives. All funds raised will be shared among our four new Community Partners: Infinity Friends, St Hilda’s Services, the Irish Professional Footballers Benevolent Association (IPFBA), and the Order of Malta. Each organisation provides vital services locally and nationally, and we are proud to stand alongside them.
Taking part is simple. If you plan to run or walk, register online and your personal fundraising page will be created automatically. Share it with friends, family, and colleagues to help raise funds. If you prefer not to take part in the run, you can still support the cause by making a donation. Local businesses are also invited to get involved through sponsorship opportunities by contacting Madie@athlonetownafc.ie or Dana@athlonetownafc.ie.
On the day, participants are asked to arrive at 1:30pm to collect their numbers before the run begins at 2:00pm. After the race, everyone is welcome to stay for games, music, a raffle, and food and refreshments available to purchase.
This event marks the beginning of meaningful partnerships that will continue long after race day. Whether you run, walk, donate, sponsor, or cheer from the sidelines, your support helps strengthen our community and demonstrates the power of football to bring people together.
