Upcoming Events at the Carmelite Church Moate Co Westmeath

The Carmelite Church in Moate Co Westmeath warmly welcomes parishioners and visitors to several special events taking place in January and February. These gatherings offer prayer reflection and a strong sense of community rooted in faith and tradition.

First on Saturday 17th January the church celebrates the Feast Day of St Anthony Abbot Protector of Livestock. This important day includes the Annual Blessing of the Animals and Livestock. Mass takes place at 10am. During Mass the community prays for the blessing of the land and the wellbeing of animals. Throughout the day priests bless animals using blessed salt and holy water. As a result this day is especially meaningful for farming families and animal lovers.

Next on Sunday 18th January at 7.00pm the church hosts Songs of Praise. This event forms part of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Local church choirs lead an evening of prayer and song. Together the community gathers to celebrate unity shared faith and worship. Everyone is welcome to attend this uplifting service.

Finally on Sunday 8th February 2026 the Carmelite Church marks the World Day of the Sick. The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick takes place at 9am 10.30am and 12 noon. In addition the relic of St Bernadette of Lourdes will be present for veneration and blessing. This offers comfort hope and strength to those who are ill or caring for others.
