Experience a week-long celebration of Halloween like no other at the Dead of Night Festival, taking place in Longford Town from 25th–31st October 2025. With over 30 events across the county, Longford transforms into a stage of light, shadow, and seasonal magic, bringing Irish myth and folklore to life for all ages.
From Ballymahon to Ballinamuck, Cloughan Farm Abbeyshrule to Granard, and throughout Longford Town, the festival offers something for everyone. Join in lantern-making and mask workshops, harvest suppers, spooky drives, walking tours, and Dungeons & Dragons nights that immerse participants in Celtic myths.
One of the festival’s unmissable highlights is the Haunted House at Connolly Barracks (27–29 October). Now in its fourth year, this immersive experience challenges visitors of all ages to confront spine-tingling surprises in its shadowy halls. Meanwhile, Halloween HQ in Pig Market Lane (27–29 October) becomes a bustling hub of workshops, roaming performers, and eerie encounters, including a storytelling extravaganza by Ireland’s renowned Candlelit Tales — a free event for all ages on Bank Holiday Monday.
The festival embraces the night-time economy with special performances, such as Andrias de Staic with the Latchicos (30 October), offering an electrifying evening of music, storytelling, and mischief.
All events build to the spectacular Fire & Shadows Procession: Morrígan’s Revenge on 31 October, from 7.30pm. Longford Town becomes a living stage of flare bearers, fire dancers, drummers, banshees, and giant puppets, culminating in a breathtaking finale in Market Square, followed by street entertainment until 9.30pm.
Part of Ireland’s Home of Halloween in Longford-Westmeath and the Hidden Heartlands, the Dead of Night Festival invites visitors to stay, explore, and celebrate Halloween where it all began.
