Gaeltacht Átha Luain, in partnership with Garrycastle GAA Club, is delighted to invite the local community to a free family-friendly Céilí taking place on Thursday, May 21st at 8 PM in Garrycastle Clubhouse.
Following the success of last year’s event, the two groups have once again joined forces to bring an evening of traditional Irish music, dancing and community spirit to Athlone. Originally scheduled as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge earlier this year, the event was respectfully postponed following the passing of beloved Garrycastle club legend Séamus Nugent.
The evening’s Céilí workshop will be led by well-known local figure Tom Shine, who will act as the Fear Tí for the event. Famous for his deep knowledge of Céilí dancing, lively personality and sharp sense of humour, Tom is guaranteed to create an atmosphere full of craic agus spraoi throughout the night.
Whether you are an experienced Céilí dancer or trying it for the very first time, this event promises to be welcoming, inclusive and enjoyable for everyone. Families, friends, visitors and members of the local community are all encouraged to come along and take part in a celebration of Irish culture and language.
Light refreshments will also be available on the night, adding to what promises to be a warm and social occasion.
Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to enjoy a night of music, dancing and community connection in Athlone.
