Looking for creative things to do with the children this Halloween midterm? Luan Gallery in Athlone is hosting a fantastic programme of Halloween workshops and drop-in activities from 26th October to 1st November 2026, giving young artists the chance to explore their imagination through art, sculpture and upcycling.
Inspired by the gallery’s current exhibition, Allow to Fallow, Allow to Fall Low, these engaging activities encourage children to experiment with materials, discover new creative techniques and make their own Halloween-inspired creations. With dedicated workshops for children aged 6–12 years, there are plenty of opportunities to get hands-on and enjoy an artistic alternative to traditional Halloween activities.
Taking place on Wednesday 28th and Friday 30th October, from 2pm to 4pm, Curious Forms invites children to explore sculpture and experiment with shapes, textures and materials. Hosted at Luan Gallery and Abbey Road Artists’ Studios in Athlone, these workshops offer an opportunity for young creatives to bring their ideas to life.
Suitable for ages 6–12. Cost: €10 per child, plus booking fee.
On Thursday 29th October, children can get creative at Monster Makers, a Halloween-themed upcycling workshop at Abbey Road Artists’ Studios, Athlone. Using their imagination and repurposed materials, participants can transform everyday objects into imaginative monster-inspired creations while exploring the fun of making art sustainably.
Two sessions are available: 1.30pm–3pm and 3.30pm–5pm.
Suitable for ages 6–12. Cost: €10 per child, plus booking fee.
For families who prefer a more flexible visit, Luan Gallery will also offer free-flowing, self-guided children’s activities from Monday 26th October to Sunday 1st November. Drop in during the gallery visit and let the children enjoy some creative time at their own pace.
No booking is required for the drop-in activities, but advance booking is essential for both workshops.
Whether your child loves making sculptures, designing monsters or simply trying something new, Luan Gallery offers an inspiring way to spend the Halloween midterm in Athlone.
