TEDx Athlone 2026 – The Ripple Effect

For the first time ever, TEDx comes to the Midlands.

Event Overview

TEDxAthlone is an independently organised TED event hosted locally in Athlone.
The 2026 theme, “The Ripple Effect,” explores how one idea or action can transform everything.
Change begins with a small spark, a simple idea, or one courageous act.
From there, it spreads outward, reshaping communities, inspiring creativity, and impacting lives.

What to Expect

Nine influential speakers will share stories of personal, cultural, and regional transformation.
The event also features entertainment to celebrate this inaugural TEDxAthlone.
Attendees leave inspired with ideas and connections that resonate across the Midlands and beyond.

Speaker Highlights

Ashley McDonnell – Founder, Ireland’s Fashion Week
Ashley leads initiatives combining fashion, luxury, and technology.
Her TEDx talk explores creativity, sustainability, and innovation in global fashion.

Dr Niamh Hynes – Vascular & Endovascular Surgeon
Dr Hynes is a medical innovator with over 12 years’ clinical experience.
She examines the future of vascular science and life-saving surgical advances.

Ciaran Mullooly – Member of the European Parliament
Ciaran explores how community-driven ideas inspire national and European change.
He shares insights from Lough Ree Access for All and EU cohesion policy.

Student Tickets

A valid student ID must be presented on entry; otherwise, the difference to a standard ticket applies.

Doors open one hour before the event.
Arrive early to enjoy pre-show drinks, tea, or coffee.
Pre-order interval drinks at the bar to beat queues; the bar closes ten minutes before the event.

Parking

Connaught Street, Pearse Court, and O’Connell Street car parks are all within five minutes’ walk.

Ticket Presentation

Present a valid ticket to ushers for entry.
Once purchased, tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded.

The Dean Crowe Theatre supports equal access and recognises individual needs.
The venue is fully wheelchair accessible with accessible seating and toilets.
Three publicly accessible parking spaces are available outside the theatre.
