From live music performances and cultural showcases to funfair rides and sporting events, the Croí na hÉireann Festival is the perfect way to celebrate Ireland’s rich heritage in the heart of the country.
Festival Highlights:
Live Music & Entertainment – Experience top-class performances, including A Night at the Opry, lively traditional Irish music sessions, and show-stopping musical theatre productions.
Family Funfair – McFadden Funfair will be running throughout the festival at Burgess Park, offering thrilling rides, games, and attractions for all ages.
Cultural Events – Immerse yourself in Irish heritage with dance performances, art exhibitions, and the Athlone Multi-Cultural Show, celebrating the diverse communities that make up our town.
Outdoor Activities – Get active with the 5K Family Fun Run or take part in the Athlone Town Walk, a guided tour showcasing the beauty and history of Athlone.
Sports & Demonstrations – Enjoy the excitement of the FAI Futsal Tournament, see expert skills at a water safety demonstration on the River Shannon, and witness other thrilling displays of athleticism.
Parade & St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations – The highlight of the weekend, the Athlone St. Patrick’s Day Parade, will bring a spectacular display of colour, music, and community pride through the streets.

- McFadden Funfair (running throughout the weekend!)
- FAI-run Futsal tournament at TUS (6:15 PM – 7:00 PM)
- Joe Ganlys dancers in the Town Centre
- Paddy’s Rambles: Friday morning ramble from Dealz car park, Golden Island (Walk starts at 10:30 AM)
Saturday, March 15th:
- Athlone Water Activities
- 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM: Racing by Athlone Boat Club Jr15 & Jr18 Boys and Girls
- 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM: Water Safety Demonstration (Back of Athlone Castle)
- Event Sponsored by Spice Indian
- Musical Theatre Intervarsities at the Dean Crowe Theatre (all day)
- Ceoltas Irish Music session at McNeill’s (5:30 PM)
- Féile na Sionnaine & Ceoltas group (4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Athlone Town Shopping Centre)

Sunday, March 16th:
- Family 5K Fun Run
- 9:30 AM: Registration
- 10:00 AM: Race Start
- Multicultural Event at the Dean Crowe Theatre (3:30 PM – 5:45 PM, Free entry)

- Grand Parade (12:30 PM) starting at the army barracks
