NABMSE Annual Conference 2026: Practice, Partnership & Progress in Special Education Leadership

The NABMSE Annual Conference 2026 will bring together Boards of Management, school leaders and education partners from across Ireland for two days of learning, collaboration and professional networking at the Hodson Bay Hotel in Athlone on 13–14 October 2026.

Under the theme Practice, Partnership & Progress, the conference will provide an important forum for those involved in special education to explore current challenges, share effective approaches and discuss opportunities for strengthening leadership and governance in schools. As the education landscape continues to evolve, the event offers a valuable opportunity to engage with colleagues, hear from expert speakers and contribute to conversations that shape the future of special education provision in Ireland.

The programme begins on Tuesday, 13 October, with the NABMSE Annual General Meeting for members, followed by the celebratory launch of the NABMSE Strategic Plan. Attendees will also have the opportunity to enjoy a wine reception, kindly sponsored by NewWave Schools, before gathering for dinner and networking.

The main conference takes place on Wednesday, 14 October, featuring keynote presentations, practical workshops and discussion sessions designed to support Boards of Management, Principals and education stakeholders in their leadership roles. Delegates can expect insights into best practice, policy developments and innovative approaches that promote inclusive, high-quality educational experiences for all learners.

Beyond the formal programme, the conference creates space for meaningful connections and professional exchange. Participants will have the chance to build relationships with peers, share experiences and gain fresh perspectives that can be applied within their own school communities.

Set on the shores of Lough Ree, the Hodson Bay Hotel provides an ideal setting for reflection, learning and collaboration, making Athlone a fitting host destination for this significant national education event.
