Immerse yourself in the rich heritage of Irish music with the Traditional Music & Singing Workshops hosted by Athlone CCÉ and Féile na Sionainne. Taking place on Saturday, July 25th from 1 PM to 3 PM at Coláiste Chiaráin, Athlone, this engaging afternoon is designed for intermediate and advanced musicians eager to refine their craft.
Participants will have the unique opportunity to learn from a lineup of renowned and highly respected tutors, each bringing their own expertise and passion for traditional Irish music. Whether your instrument is the piano, concertina, fiddle, banjo, button accordion, flute, or whistle, or if you specialise in traditional singing, there is something here to inspire and challenge you.
Tutors include celebrated names such as Ryan Molloy (Piano), David Doocey (Concertina), Conor Caldwell (Fiddle), Brian Scahill (Banjo), Tom Doherty (Button Accordion), Stephen Doherty (Flute & Whistle), and Cathy Jordan (Singing). Their guidance offers a rare chance to develop technique, explore repertoire, and gain insight into authentic trad performance.
As part of the wider Féile na Sionainne Festival, these workshops are more than just a learning experience—they are a celebration of Irish culture, community, and musical tradition. Attendees are also encouraged to continue the festivities later that evening at Devil’s in the Dance Hall, creating a full day of music and connection.
Don’t miss this opportunity to learn, play, and grow alongside some of the finest musicians in the country in a welcoming and inspiring setting.
