Halloween Family Fun in Westmeath
Celebrate Samhain on the Land at Murtagh’s Organic Farm from 24th to 31st October 2026 for a fun-filled Halloween experience celebrating Irish folklore, farm life and the magic of the autumn season. Located at Murtagh’s Organic Farm, Old Parochial House, Ballynscargy, Co. Westmeath (N91 PV04), this family-friendly event is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the countryside while discovering the traditions of Samhain.
Bring the family along to meet the farm animals and explore the farm’s brand-new pens and fields. Say hello to gentle donkeys, meet a playful new foal, watch curious goats, and discover the ducks and hens. Younger visitors will also love the cosy Bunny Bungalow, with plenty more to see as you wander from field to field and experience farm life up close.
There’s lots of Halloween creativity to enjoy, too. Children can get involved in pumpkin carving under parent supervision and take part in spooky seasonal crafts. On selected days, meet Winnifred the Witch for magical storytelling sessions that bring ancient Irish Samhain folklore and traditions to life.
Whether you’re planning an October half-term outing, looking for family-friendly Halloween activities or hoping to introduce children to Ireland’s rich seasonal heritage, Samhain on the Land offers a welcoming blend of animals, creativity, storytelling and outdoor adventure.
The event forms part of Samhain in the Heartlands and Ireland’s Home of Halloween, celebrating the unique Halloween heritage of Longford and Westmeath. It’s a lovely way for families and visitors to connect with local traditions while enjoying the simple pleasures of a working organic farm.
